Mail arrived from Linda Rogers (Canada). Linda made a lovely postcard with a floral design. The background is in shades of green, blue, yellow, beige and orange. A stamped image in black ink, and a colorful die-cut overlay follows. I always enjoy mail art from Linda Rogers. Thanks, Linda.

Kristen Hermanny is another artist I enjoy. I may have mentioned this in an earlier post....Kristen and I were first acquainted on Instagram. I admired her envelope art / decorated covers on that platform, and I became curious about who she sent them too. Kristen is the person who introduced me to IUOMA, and I am so glad she did!
August 19, 2019: Great mail art day, with the arrival of Steph Dodson's beautifully decorated envelope (chockful of awesome stuff)... This is the first mail I received from Steph Dodson, who has been involved with mail art since 2011. I believe my first encounter with Steph is via the IUOMA-ning group, "A TOUCH OF VINTAGE." In November 2018 mail came in from Catherine Kanvik, my first from her. The Add & Pass was sent on after my adds.
Thank you, Catherine! Mail from November 2018: Amy Candiotti is a fellow member of the Decos group at IUOMA-ning. I received mail from her in late 2018 which included the "What Makes You Happy Deco" (started by Bonniediva). Upon completing my page, the Deco was forwarded to another member of the group. The map envelope is handmade from an atlas page. I love the vintage image of the beret-wearing gal!
Many thanks to Amy! Read my post on Decos here. Mail from November 2018: Hats off to Richard Baudet (Marseille, France) for this lovely piece.
Center stage is the envelope art, where Richard features the 26 letters of the English alphabet - both ascending and descending. Richard decided to do this theme because he noticed that I had joined the alphabet group on IUOMA-ning. Thank you from ETATS UNIS! Mail from November 2018: How great to receive mail from C. Mehrl Bennett! I love the original artwork from Catherine - especially the mini book, "Ask a Cow." Weeks before I had given her a few brown kraft pages from a discarded braille book. I'm glad to see it put to use, and thrilled that I am the recipient! The braille paper was also used for a "Not Fluxus" flashcard post card.
(The following was originally posted on my blog at IUOMA, July 10, 2018) ALL THE WAY FROM FRANCE...
Richard Baudet's Mail Art arrived on May 1. Very nice envelope art, and a couple of small printed note cards. Looks like "Mail Art is good for our health!" Thanks, Richard! Mail from October 2018: Darling Darlene Domel from STAMPLANDCHICAGO.COM sent me this wonderful rubber stamp art! I hope someday to develop her level of technical expertise. Mail from October 2018:
Thanks a bunch, Darlene! What a pleasant surprise to receive mail this summer from W.C. "Bill" Porter - longtime artist, photographer, outdoor enthusiast and owner of the "eclectic enterprise of WCP-NM.COM, Inc. Bill decided to send mail my way when he noticed me on the IUOMA-Ning site back in June. In his letter to me, he gives me a "BIG atta girl for still having" my stamp album from childhood (I mention the stamp album in my IUOMA profile). Bill goes on to ask me about my philatelic endeavors - clubs, organizations? types of stamps I collect? participation in any global stamp exchanges? He also shares his philatelic interests with me. Bill was kind to send some stamps my way (postage, artistamps, international local post). I especially love the following:
June's mail also includes a flyer about stamp collecting. Gotta love the phrase - "KEEP PHILATELY PHUN!" The envelope art - original watercolor art by Bill - features a Southwest mountain. July came and went, and August brought more mail from Mr. Porter - this time in the form of a post card. Bill, again, adorns his correspondence with an original watercolor piece. Cool RAY JOHNSON (Ray Who?) Bunny Stamp!!
Now that I've told you about the mail I received, let me share with you some information about Bill's business. Bill and his wife Kathy operate their subsidiary enterprises out of Olathe CO. WCP-NM.COM, Inc. is comprised of the following businesses:
Looking forward to corresponding with Bill Porter! Thanks WCP! |
