I enjoy mail art collaboration, and Add & Pass activities are a fun and easy way to participate. I've received a number of A&P pieces - many of which are so clever. It's neat to be the first artist to change a piece, but just as thrilling to add to one that's been in the hands of several artists before me. I've decided to try my hand at creating a few A&Ps, and here are four:

(Originally posted on my blog at IUOMA, March 24, 2018) More EYE-CANDY from Ed Giecek - starting with the envelope, and continuing inside! Ed wrote a kind note, letting me know that I "won first prize for most fantastic envy-lope of the day award!" In grand Giecek-style, there are many Ed-made goodies inside. Love the VW camper! Also includes a Mike Dickau "Add & Pass." Thanks so much, Ed!

Two Cards for the price of one - from Mr. Canard this week. (Originally posted on my blog at IUOMA, March 24, 2018) Received this postcard on 03-19-18, and the sender is unknown. The only clue I have is that it came from New York, NY. Soooooo....come out, come out wherever you are!!! Anyway...love this collage card, Bugs Bunny and all! Thank you!

Judy and Joey sent me mail art from St. Louis. Of course anytime I think of St. Louis, I want to start singing: "Meet me in St. Louis, Louis, Meet me at the fair, Don't tell me the lights are shining Any place but there, We will dance the Hoochee Koochee, I will be your tootsie wootsie, If you will meet in St. Louis, Louis, Meet me at the fair." Love that move and Judy Garland. Now, back to this Judy - (Originally posted on my blog at IUOMA, March 24, 2018) My neighbor to the South, Mike Parsons of Iowa, sent me this lovely card! It arrived in the Lyons Family mailbox on March 19. Look at the lettering of my name on front...VERY COOL! He gave me a great block of mint 5 cent stamps "Stop Traffic Accidents." Thanks so much, Mike! I'll be sending something to "On the Edge of Creativity Studios" soon.
(Originally posted on my blog at IUOMA, March 17, 2018) MomKat surprised me with an envelope of goodies, and a cheerful welcome to IUOMA! Katerina's rubber stamping on the back of the envelope, and some of the images on her collage card are really neat! They inspire me to get a few personalized rubber stamps / images for myself. I love all the scrappy bits too! Thanks MomKat!!
Outgoing to Ruud Janssen (IUOMA), Breda, Netherlands. My third piece of outgoing mail art was to IUOMA (International Union of Mail-Artists) founder, Ruud Janssen. This postcard wasn't anything special, art-wise. The intention was to express my appreciate for membership in the IUOMA-Ning site. What a terrible faux pas, though - I transposed the U and the O, and initially wrote IOUMA! Thank goodness I caught the mistake before I mailed it. Hopefully Ruud had a laugh at my silly blunder! Through his TAM-PUBLICATIONS, Ruud Janssen publishes books on mail art - available in hardcover, paperback and eBook versions. Proceeds from the sale of the books benefit the IUOMA.
Outgoing to Richard C. (IUOMA), Carbondale IL. My second outgoing piece of m-a went to Richard Canard. Back in March, I was a newbie, and I didn't have any idea of his reputation and history in mail art. Richard Canard is a longtime member of, what-is-know-as, the 'Eternal Network,' and an original member of the New York Correspondence School. When I first began with m-a, I was ALL ABOUT the envelope art. Truthfully - I thought THAT was the extent of it. Little did I know!
Outgoing to Marek W. (IUOMA), POLAND. Marek is the Founder & International Director of World Smile Archive.
This was the very first piece of m-a I sent out after joining the IUOMA. |
