Mail from January 28, 2019: Mr. Bill Porter of The Olathe Poste is a wonderful correspondent. He always takes the time to write a friendly letter. We like to share about our mutual hobby - philately! Bill sent an original add & pass, complete with original watercolor work. He said of my middle initial, “the B stands for Beautiful !” Haha...quite the charmer!
Thanks for the mail! Mail from December 2018: The Lyons’ Den received a very first piece of mail from Moscow, Russia via Ilya Semenenko-Basin. Ilya used postage stamps and glue to create an interesting collage. The collage I received was done on a post card, and features a number of circles and other shapes.
What a pleasant surprise to receive mail this summer from W.C. "Bill" Porter - longtime artist, photographer, outdoor enthusiast and owner of the "eclectic enterprise of WCP-NM.COM, Inc. Bill decided to send mail my way when he noticed me on the IUOMA-Ning site back in June. In his letter to me, he gives me a "BIG atta girl for still having" my stamp album from childhood (I mention the stamp album in my IUOMA profile). Bill goes on to ask me about my philatelic endeavors - clubs, organizations? types of stamps I collect? participation in any global stamp exchanges? He also shares his philatelic interests with me. Bill was kind to send some stamps my way (postage, artistamps, international local post). I especially love the following:
June's mail also includes a flyer about stamp collecting. Gotta love the phrase - "KEEP PHILATELY PHUN!" The envelope art - original watercolor art by Bill - features a Southwest mountain. July came and went, and August brought more mail from Mr. Porter - this time in the form of a post card. Bill, again, adorns his correspondence with an original watercolor piece. Cool RAY JOHNSON (Ray Who?) Bunny Stamp!!
Now that I've told you about the mail I received, let me share with you some information about Bill's business. Bill and his wife Kathy operate their subsidiary enterprises out of Olathe CO. WCP-NM.COM, Inc. is comprised of the following businesses:
Looking forward to corresponding with Bill Porter! Thanks WCP! (Originally posted on my blog at IUOMA, June 2, 2018)
I always LOVE what I receive from Nancy Bell Scott, and in the short time we've been IUOMA "friends" - she has been so encouraging! I greatly appreciate the support, Nancy!! (Originally posted on my blog at IUOMA, March 24, 2018) My neighbor to the South, Mike Parsons of Iowa, sent me this lovely card! It arrived in the Lyons Family mailbox on March 19. Look at the lettering of my name on front...VERY COOL! He gave me a great block of mint 5 cent stamps "Stop Traffic Accidents." Thanks so much, Mike! I'll be sending something to "On the Edge of Creativity Studios" soon.
(Originally posted on my blog at IUOMA, March 17, 2018) MomKat surprised me with an envelope of goodies, and a cheerful welcome to IUOMA! Katerina's rubber stamping on the back of the envelope, and some of the images on her collage card are really neat! They inspire me to get a few personalized rubber stamps / images for myself. I love all the scrappy bits too! Thanks MomKat!!
(Originally posted on my blog at IUOMA, March 5, 2018) Howdy All, I received Kristen Hermanny's mail on March 3. So much to love: 1) the lumberjack stamp - Kristen pays homage to her dad's family from the Upper Peninsula, who were loggers. Living in Minnesota, I am reminded of the folklore of Paul Bunyan and his blue ox, Babe. They are said to have created the 10,000 lakes of Minnesota by their footprints, incuding Lake Bemidji, which indeed has the shape of a giant footprint resembling it when viewed from high above. 2) the Minneapolis Riverfront stamp - a great reference to Minnesota. 3) the olympic postage stamps - cool because of the recent Winter Olympics. Kristen wrote a lovely note on "bone-shaped" paper. (Woof!) A very nice pen friend, indeed! So glad we got acquainted on Instagram, and she introduced me to IUOMA.
Hopefully I will be as prolific as you, Kristen! Thanks so much! |
