There is a mail artist from Curitiba-PR Brazil who seems to greet each and every new member of IUOMA (on the NING site). He was probably the first person to greet me on the platform. Of course, I'm referring to Patricio - the self-described 'Celestial Scribe.' Patricio hails from 'a heavenly corner of the faraway universe called REPUBLIK van PATLAND.' He seems like quite the character - a man with a terrific imagination, and a great sense of humor. When responding to my mail art, Patricio employed a unique method. He took the written note I sent him, and chopped it up for use with his reply. His handmade post cards include bits and pieces of my letter. I am glad to exchange mail art with Patricio! Love his art and his 'Celestial Being!'

Barbargirl (Key West, FL) sent two pieces of mail this past summer.
Barbargirl's mail from June is chock full of stuff - including a colorful, tri-fold card. A pocket (with lots of goodies enclosed) is attached to the inside. I especially like the 'First National Bank of Gotham' one dollar bill! Originally posted on my blog at IUOMA, April 9,, 2018)
This envelope of goodies came from Billy Haddock. Just received it on April 5. I corresponded with him for the first time after Ed Geicek passed along Eerie Billy's card / address to me. Nancy Bell Scott is one of my favorite mail artists! I cherish everything she sends me. Number 1, Side A is a photo of a collage piece. Nancy is skillful at layering and adding texture. The asemic writing is an added bonus.
Number 2, Side A is an 'ink minimal.' According to Nancy - she enjoys 'doing it at times. It is SO HARD for me to get minimal!' Here is a piece of mail art that features a handmade envelope by yours truly. I used pages from a 'coffee table' book to make it. K. Rolina from the UK was the recipient.

I always LOVE what I receive from Nancy Bell Scott, and in the short time we've been IUOMA "friends" - she has been so encouraging! I greatly appreciate the support, Nancy!! Here is an outgoing piece of mail to Ed Giecek. The sixth m-a item I ever mailed, it was sent in March of this year. As you can see, I put a great deal of effort into the envelope art. Not sure what was inside.
"MAIL ART...MORE THAN MEETS THE EYE!" Bruce Cassaglia sent me mail from Italy in May. Bruce and I became acquainted on IUOMA early in the year.
Painted fingerprints in various shades are a common theme of this mail art packet. I especially like "Eighteen Red Blood Prints." It appears as though the same digit was used in each of the 18 impressions, yet no two are alike. Hey...I see spots, spots and MORE SPOTS! Ladybug art has landed in my 'neck of the woods,' all the way from Genova, Italy! This is the first mail art piece from IUOMA friend Lorella Castagnini. It came to The Lyons' Den on May 15, 2018. Awesome mail from IUOMA founder, Ruud Janssen arrived in May. |
