In 2020 the Lyons' Den has received mail from a new correspondent - Olivia Arrow (Chicago, Il). . Mail art from Olivia arrived in late April and mid July. Olivia Arrow Mail Art (April 24, 2020) Olivia, a member of IUOMA-ning, found my name via the CIRCLES group. On April 24 a postcard arrived from Olivia. On the postcard she mentions that it was made for Earth Day / new moon. Olivia Arrow Mail Art (July 16, 2020) A second mailing from Olivia came in July - this time in the form of an adorned envelope. The card inside, decorated with blue and yellow tissue paper, contains a number of interesting things - items that are symbolic.
Olivia's card has an attached pocket. The double-sided pocket card inside is titled 'Summer Solstice.' She explains that with our world being "crazy and uncertain," the "solstice is a good time to image a world we want to be a part of and envision how to create that world." The main card (with tissue paper) is a "festive rainbow in celebration of Gay Pride month." The image on back of the smaller pocket card was designed "in solidarity with the BLM movement." Next to the lovely handwritten note there is a tiny envelope affixed to the card. An arrow pointing upward prompts one to open up the envelope. The little envelope holds a few items (explanations for these items are found on the pocket card):
Wow, awesome stuff from this talented mail artist! Thanks so much, Olivia Arrow!
