April 26, 2020: Mail art arrived from my Twin Cities neighbor, Allison Anne - an accomplished collagist and mixed media artist. It is the first ever piece I received from them. The art piece I received is a cardboard collage card. This 'trashpo' work measures at approximately 6 3/4" x 5 1/4". The postcard is made entirely of layered cardboard scraps. The back of the postcard is made up of larger pieces of cardboard. A mailing address label has been made from an envelope scrap. The front of the postcard consists of layered cardboard pieces. These cardboard scraps vary in size, color, and texture.
Allison Anne's composition has resulted in a unique and FAB collage. The piece is truly a tactile and visual delight. I enjoy running my fingers across the cardboard odds and ends. Visually, it engages my eyes. I like that it is static, yet full of movement. Like Allison Anne, I too, gravitate towards mixed media and collage art. Here is Minnesota, there is a community of collagists and creative people known as the Twin Cities Collage Collective (TCCC). Allison Anne is a founding member of the collective. In the near future I plan on participating in TCCC collage gatherings. Thanks for the great mail Allison Anne! You rock!
