Katerina Nikoltsou (Thessaloniki, Greece) has gifted me with more art for the 'Year of the Rat.' Thanks for the mail and Happy 2020, Katerina!
The Lyons' Den continues to get FAB mail art from around the universe. Here's the latest from Judy S. (and her doggie, Joey), who hails from Missiouri. Thanks for the lovely mail, Judy!
Mail arrived from Linda Rogers (Canada). Linda made a lovely postcard with a floral design. The background is in shades of green, blue, yellow, beige and orange. A stamped image in black ink, and a colorful die-cut overlay follows. I always enjoy mail art from Linda Rogers. Thanks, Linda.
Minneapolis Gnome recently sent me an envelope full of nine issues of his publication, "Another Crappy Mini Zine." This is the first ever mail from Gnome, and I will say that he has certainly WOWED me! ![]() Eight issues of "Another Crappy Mini Zine" are eight pages long, and printed on one piece of printer paper. One issue (#2, 2014) is 16 pages in length. (to make your own eight page zine, see diagram at right) The issues I received are printed on either pink or white paper. Six are from 2014, and the other three are dated 2015, 2016 and 2019. Here's another great postcard from fellow IUOMA-ning member, Jimmy Connors (Germany). Using the 'Ray Johnson Double' image as the base, Jimmy has made a simple and humorous photomontage. The speech bubble reads, "I don't know this Ray Jones guy..." You may recall that I had used the same image of Johnson when I participated in Mick Boyle's online mail art show, 'Ray Johnson Double Add and Return.'
Thanks much for the great mail art, Jimmy! A recent postcard from Jack Lattemann, a.k.a. Cascadia Artpost. A political piece on current happenings! The artistamp, "American Values, Global Warfare" ties in nicely with the artist's sentiments. Always great to receive mail from Cascadia Artpost! Thanks so much!
So very excited and pleased to receive mail from Cheryl Penn, a phenomenal conceptual artist from South Africa. I've been acquainted with Cheryl for a short time, yet I have come to know of her tremendous output of art. You see, mutual mail art friends have shared Cheryl's asemic writing, visual poetry, artists books and much more. Cheryl's story, Leonardo and The Vetruvian Man (e not i), is paired with a
piece of cut up Painting # 116. The Lyons' Den recently received mail art from Tammy Riggins (TN), a new correspondent and fellow IUOMA member. A handmade envelope, made from a map, greeted me at the post office. Tammy enclosed an interesting original painting in pastel colors (above). I also got some goodies to enjoy. I especially like the matchbook note pad. Thanks for the great mail, Tammy!
January 14 incoming mail included a postcard from Mr. Richard C. (Illinois). The postcard was made from a portion of a Lindt Chocolate packaging. Love the FLUXUS comic! Many thanks to Richard C!
